Maira Madriz Mendoza, was born in Mexico City on September 3, 1979. She studied mathematics at the Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She obtained both, her Master's degree in Mathematics in 2007 and her Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2012, at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, UAM. She specialized in Topology, more precisely in topics of convergence, under the direction of Prof. Richard Wilson Roberts.
As a teacher she has experience for more than ten years. She has taught at the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM, the UAM and the ITAM. In addition she has taught a course for the Mexican Academy of Sciences. In all these years the variety of courses ranges from Geometry, Higher and Linear Algebra, Differential and Integral Calculus I and II, Logic, Topology, among others.
She is a co-author of research articles, essentially in the area of Topology and divulgation. The areas of her interest are General Topology, Set Theory, Dynamic Systems, Linear Algebra, Education and Divulgation of Mathematics.
